About Canterbury's Community & Student Radio
CSR is Community and Student Radio based in Canterbury. We are primarily funded by the University of Kent and Kent Union, and we are run by the CSR committee and our student union partner. Our studio, ‘Studio Red’ can be found on the University of Kent Campus. We broadcast 24/7 with a range of breakfast, drive time and specialist shows to suit everyone. We have been broadcasting on FM radio at 97.4 since January 2007. More recently, we now only broadcast online – with highlights from your favourite shows available on-demand and online.
CSR has many members from different paths of life, meaning our on-air output is very varied. We have shows focusing on old hits, including ‘Back to the 80’s with Mirka’, DJ tunes to keep you entertained including ‘CSR Residency’ on Friday nights and a plethora of other genres from ‘At the Edge of Prog’, a progressive Rock and Jazz fusion show, to International shows, to the ‘Morning Mix’ with Gavin Blunt. We also attend local events, including ‘Canterbury’s Food and Drink festival’, enjoy promoting local bands with CSR Live and get involved with local charities and businesses. We also run some competitions and are always keen to support the local community.
As of September 2020, our equipment and systems have been updated to allow the very best production of radio around the University of Kent and nationally online. Every member is fully trained on the equipment and will receive the support they need from committee members.
Our schedule is regularly updated. Please check our social media platforms, for any recent updates regarding broadcasting and joining in line with current government and university safety guidelines.
